Jewellery Care
Dust, pollution and daily wear all conspire to dull the surface of your jewellery and cloud the sparkliness of your gemstones. To keep this to a minimum, always try and avoid contact with chemicals, perfume, hairspray and deodorant when wearing your jewellery. Also, remember to remove jewellery when bathing, working and playing sports.
When not being worn, store your jewellery in a jewellery box or the box provided. If you look after your jewellery it will last a lifetime and continue to look gorgeous!
Cleaning plain silver jewellery
To clean plain silver jewellery we recommend using a soft cloth and warm water with a mild detergent (washing up liquid).
Rinse jewellery in water after cleaning and dry with a soft cloth. We include a free high quality anti-tarnish silver jewellery polishing cloth with your order. Polish with the cloth after drying the jewellery to restore the shine and prevent the jewellery from tarnishing in the future. We do not recommend the use of silver dips.
Cleaning gem set silver jewellery
Follow instructions above as for plain silver jewellery.
To restore the sparkle back to gem stones use a soft toothbrush and clean the back of stones where dirt can accumulate. This will allow the light to pass through the stones restoring the sparkle.
Gem stones such as Opal, Coral, Pearls or Turquoise should not be immersed in water. These gem stones are soft and porous and can be easily scratched. Simply use a soft damp cloth to clean the stones.
Mother of Pearl and shell should never be immersed in water because adhesive is used to fix the MOP/shell to the silver. Simply clean with the silver polishing cloth only.
Cleaning Rhodium plated sterling silver jewellery
Rhodium is a highly reflective precious metal (more valuable than gold and platinum) used to plate white gold and silver jewellery. It is very hard wearing metal and does not tarnish.
To clean Rhodium plated silver jewellery simply wipe with a soft damp cloth. Do not use a silver polishing cloth. Do not use a jewellery dip.
